Solitaire by alice oseman is my favorite book, i'd definitely recommend it if you haven't read it yet. It makes me feel happy 😊 and i forget im reading sometimes

Can yall give feedback for the beginning of my story? The sound of waves crashing rythmatical filled the summer night air as Atlas and Dawn were gazing at the stars shining playfully. The sky had been painted with streaks of pink, yellow and orange that were long gone now. “Dawn” atlas’s voice cut through the calm silence. She blinked in surprise and turned to face Atlas. “What?” “Do you believe in fate?” “What do you mean?” she inquired “ do you think we would never have become friends if it wasn't for that one day you walked up to me years ago?” Dawn shooed away the idea and just said “i dont think a world like that could exist, or at least I would want no part in it.” Atlas smiled and slowly shifted closer to her and hesitantly put his arm around her, his touch sent a shiver down her spine and her breath hitched for a moment. Her heart pounded, hopefully he couldn't hear it. They stayed like that for another thirty minutes and then parted ways and went home. Dawn thought about that day often and it was too perfect to forget and it always made its way into her daydreams. Why had he said friends? They were so much more than just friends, right? “Dawn? Dawwwwn!” she snapped back to reality the soft peacefulness of the rooftop fading away. She was back in her chaotic messy bedroom, not at the beach house or with atlas. Her best friend Skyler was trying to catch her attention over the blasting music. Skyler's “summer playlist” she took so much pride in mostly just consisted of annoying pop or mid punk rock. “you're giggling to yourself again, you're thinking about your knight in shining swim trunks aren't you?” she teased and began imitating them in a sing-songy voice “oh atlas!” she began and clasped her hands dramatically “you're so smart and handsome! Want to gaze into eachothers eyes and write poems about our love?” Dawn hurled a pillow at her “shut up!” she laughed, her face getting red “you're so annoying! Seriously, you have me and him wrong, we are just friends!… i think, idk it's just the summer air that messes with our brains sometimes!” dawn explained not very convincingly “you are in such denial” she she accused “ the second we get down to that beach house you two are going to pick up where you always do” skye grabbed a skimpy aqua bikini top from the bin of hand me down bathing suits and threw it at Dawn “but maybe this year it won't just be the summer air” she added giggling. “You're not funny!” Dawn exclaimed, holding up the top that was 6 sizes too small “I think I'd get some questionable looks from the church ladies if I wore this” she laughed while tossing it back into the bin. Dawn sighed, flopping back down on her bed “do you really think this will be our summer?” She asked wistfully the words felt fragile on her tongue. She and Atlas had liked each other on and off since they were nine they never had gotten the timing right yet and it didn't help that once summer ended they barely saw each other. Dawn cherished those three months of sunburns, salty air and sweet freedom. Skye Answered dawns question lightly , “it could be but you guys really need to have a conversation about it or nothing is ever going to happen.” Dawn frowned but knew Skyler was right; it's just that communication skills had never been her strong suit. Skyler pulled out another bathing suit from the bin. It was a two piece hot pink tankini with a cute little bow on the top and ruffles on the bottoms “Try this one on!” Skyler exclaimed enthusiastically, “scarlet actually wore this? It's so, not her!” she giggled referring to the skimpy string bikinis that filled the rest of the bin. Scarlet was Skyler's older sister who in college now Dawn didn't have any sisters but Scarlet and skyler had always treated Dawn like family, even going on vacation together every year. Dawn put the tankini in her bag “this is definitely the one” Once skyler had gone home dawn started thinking about what was going to happen this summer, every year she tried to build up the courage to tell him how she felt but every year she chickened out. “Atlas i have to tell you something” nervous thirteen year old dawn looked at the pool floor when she said this, the pungent scent of chlorine filled the air as beads of water fell from dawn’s hair forming a little pool by her feet. Atlas shot her a smirk and said “of course, what is it?” nerves overwhelmed her. It is that he will finally figure out how he feels about me and what he will say! Her heart raced in her ears as she tried to find her words “I-i-i like y-you-” her voice broke “-you youre brother gavin yea i like gavin” bit her bottom lip dang it! Why would I say that?! I don't like Gavin. I like the atlas I always have! Atlas stared at her dumbfounded. His goofy smile had slipped from his face “o-oh okay, cool. I kinda thought you were going somewhere else with that” he forcefully laughed. There was an awkward pause for what felt like a century “so umm he's kinda old for you isn't he?” atlas hesitated “hes fifteen its only like two years” she pointed out “sure whatever you say” he looked confused and unreadable, dawn hated it “umm yeah alright well it's getting dark i should go home,”she announced, “bye” she grabbed her stuff from the pool side and dashed home as fast as possible. It's over! I wrecked everything, she started crying and broke down on the side of the road. She didn't care that the curb was hot and burning her hands or the fact that she was soaking wet. She had been so caught up in her own misery she didn't notice Gavin standing by her holding a surfboard. “Uhh dawn? Are you okay?” Gavin yelped, sounding concerned and dropped his surfboard on the grass before joining dawn on the curb. “Go away” she sobbed. “Dawn” he started calmly “please tell me what's wrong, What happened?” he inquired. “You wont understand, I can't tell you! I ruined everything- my life is officially over!” she buried her head in her arms and sobbed “i'm sure it can't be that bad please tell me?” Gavin had always been like an older brother; he always had her back and looked out for her. “If I tell you, you're not allowed to tell him, I mean anyone Okay?” Gavin smiled and held out his pinky “I promise I won't.”

I like light hearted romance and some fantasy so im afraid with my expectations and my pickiness that the ACOTAR Series wont kive up to the hype 😭
